Our values are at the root of all we do at Devonian Coast Wineries.

While it is an exhilarating time to be part of one of the world's fine emerging wine regions, it is even more exciting to be part of the Devonian Coast team. We are a group of passionate individuals who care deeply about our craft and are excited to play a role in building our company and reputation. We are committed to our products, each other and our focus on customer experience.

We offer a fun, fast-paced, tourism-driven environment.  We will definitely enhance and grow your kitchen, event planning, customer service and local wine knowledge during your tenure with us. Each season we host a number of festivals and music events on our 35-acre vineyard. Our café is open from 11 AM – 4 PM, Thursday-Sunday May 10 — Dec 16 and 11 AM — 5 PM, 7 days a week from June 15 — September 14 with 35 indoor seats and 65 seats on our patio. We are a team-minded company that offers support and mentorship while we work side by side during our exciting and lively tourist season.

Jost Vineyards
Position:  Retail Associate

 

At Jost Vineyards, we believe that making the best wines involves exceptional teamwork throughout our organization.  We need you to make a difference as a Retail Associate.  In this role, you are the face of the organization and responsible for ensuring our guests have a positive experience.  Retail Associates are an essential form of interaction between the public and our brand.  As such, they are our primary brand ambassadors and are expected to display and provide a lasting positive image with visitors to the winery and the public at large.

General Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to the winery in a positive and hospitable manner. Outgoing and dynamic.
  • Provide guests with helpful and knowledgeable assistance with their retail shopping decisions.
  • Interact with guests to determine wine styles and products they will enjoy.
  • Perform opening/closing duties following procedures and check lists.
  • Perform all Point of Sale duties and procedures, including credit/debit reconciliation.
  • Manage productdisplays in an ongoing, attractive and stocked manner.
  • Conduct informative tastings at the product tasting counter in a manner that encourages sales of such products.
  • Be proactive in decision making.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple stations at once.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and display interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol
  • Previous retail, experience is an asset.

  • Able to carry multiple plates in order to expedite food & beverage services efficiently.
  • Interact with guests to determine wines and menu items they will enjoy.
  • Perform opening/closing duties following procedures and check lists.

  • Manage table lay-out and presentation at all times.
  • Follow Food Service policies and procedures.
  • Be proactive in decision making.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple stations at once.

  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol
  • Previous retail, food & beverage service and tourism related experience is a strong asset.
  • Food Handlers Certification & other relevant documents are a strong asset.
  • Able to perform duties in role of retail associate as required and as business levels dictate.

Position:  Full Time Delivery Driver

 

At Jost Vineyards, we believe that making the best wines involves exceptional teamwork throughout our organization. We need you to make a difference as our Delivery Driver. In this role, you are more than someone who moves our product from the winery to our customers, you are the face of the organization and, as someone with past customer service experience, you’ll take great pleasure in delighting our customers and providing exceptional customer service every time.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accuracy of weekly orders and load onto delivery van
  • Effectively and efficiently maintain weekly delivery schedule to customers and licensees throughout Nova Scotia
  • Maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and other related equipment
  • Management and care of our product while in the act of loading, unloading, or transporting items, ensuring that cargo is properly secured to avoid damage
  • Accurately complete and submit all necessary paperwork, handle cash where appropriate
  • Work extra/overtime hours as needed according to customer needs
  • Maintain an excellent driving record

Qualifications:

  • Class 5 Driver’s License with clean Driver’s Abstract and clear Criminal Record Check
  • High School Equivalent
  • Highly motivated with 3-5 years related work experience and a proven track record
  • Ability to lift 50 lb. repeatedly
  • Ability to manage paperwork and handle cash
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and strong customer orientation
  • Integrity and positive attitude as well as professional appearance
  • Diligent attention to safety and detail

  •  Hours: Monday thru Friday /Full Time Seasonal (April-October) with potential to work in other areas of the organization during the off-season

Jost Vineyards

Position: Seagrape Café Cook

General Responsibilities:

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen team
  • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Qualifications:

  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook or culinary schooling.
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Outgoing, positive and energetic personality.
  • Foodsafe
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices

Jost Vineyards

Position: Cellar Hand

We are looking for trainee cellar hands to join our winemaking team. These are an entry level position with the opportunity to gain skills in an industry which foresees strong future growth.

As an entry level position, the applicant will work closely alongside more experienced workers to learn the practical operations of winery cellar work.

General Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and sterilizing winery equipment
  • Moving pumps, hoses and equipment
  • Keeping the winery cellars orderly

With time, the work will transition to the operation of winery equipment relative to the grape harvest and other aspects of the winemaking process.

Requirements:

  • Preferably experience in a manufacturing environment such as food or agriculture.
  • Interest and desire to develop a career in the wine business.
  • Strongly motivated with good work and team ethic.
  • Physically fit, able to lift 50 lbs and work at heights.
  • Flexibility with regard to variable and longer working hours

Full time after 3 month trial period
