What is Frizzante wine?

Frizzante is an Italian style of wine that offers lower alcohol and balanced acidity. This slightly sparkling wine features a more delicate mousse than a prosecco or champagne.

The style is found throughout the world, known in Spain as Vino de Aguja, in France as Pétillant, and in Germany as Perlwein.

Key frizzante attributes:

• Frizzante wines typically feature between 1 and 2.5 bars of atmospheric pressure at 20°C, which is about half the effervescence of fully sparkling wines.
• The effervescence is typically a gentle, soft spritz on the tongue rather than persistent, aggressive carbonation.
• Wines are often sealed with simple crown caps or standard screw caps instead of heavy corks and wire cages.
• Favourite frizzantes from around the world are designed to be fresh, fruity, young, and easy-drinking.
